I hear ya. It's been rainy and sixty degrees just about every day since the end of May. I confess that I've thought wistfully about the hot and dry Med once or twice.
I'm leaving Scotland this week, for Northern Ireland, and then Ireland. By the end of the season we'll be in England. Next year, the Med, probably by June.

1. There is (sort of) such a thing as Chicken-Fried Haggis. In the fish 'n' chips places, there are lots of batter choices, one of which is ALWAYS haggis.

I've never had haggis. That is ok. Now Turnips shall remain another topic. I had a Bro-in-law who haled from Scotland and he rilled against Turnips one Thanksgiving because he has a (Italian term, 'Wouli') for Parsnips. Seems that mashed parsnips and turnips are mashed in Scotland. Jees, it was beyond funny, but wiothout the sound, the accent. Nevermind.

Excellent question. As it happens, I'm fiercely partisan about seafood cakes of any sort.

The gold standard is the Maryland crab cake. Thus, I'm skeptical of any cake that uses filler of any kind. These cakes, cut by mashed potatoes, were probably better as is than if they hadn't been. Smoked haddock is too strong a taste to dominate the ingredients, I think. But Maryland

Sea salt is indeed for sale in Sweden, and that's undoubtedly what I've used in the past. At a very large supermarket today, I found finely ground sea salt (generally sea salt here is in flakes and still isn't scone-worthy). The texture of the fine sea salt is something more than table salt and something less than salt flakes. This salt has about the same finger feel as kosher salt,
